The following is translated into English on Google:

The mayor of La Mamola (Granada) began a hunger strike to demand more money for municipalities. The independent Pedro Garcia, mayor of this town of 2,080 inhabitants on the east coast of Andalusia, has launched its particular crusade and has been on hunger strike to demand more money for municipalities, which is asphyxiated, and all other Local Authorities Spain.
Garcia, who also maintains a strike of confinement in his office of the council, demanding an amendment of the Law on Financing of Local farms that in his view, leads to the municipalities to rely exclusively on revenue of brick. The crisis of the brick is choking the small towns in Mamola, which does not grant a licence works since last year and this is reflected in the municipal coffers.

Some Of The Proposals and Plans For La Mamola officially put forward in September 2008

The council will encourage a marina in Castillo de Baños

The village will also feature a shopping mall and a hotel, a project that amount to an industrial estate.

J. LUIS MORENO. The City Council of Polop-La Mamola seeks radically altering the physiognomy of the town with important initiatives with which it seeks also to give a 180 degree turn to the local economy, focusing on agriculture as the main engine of development. A marine-marina Castillo de Baños, where he will also build a shopping mall and a hotel, a lodge in rural or industrial Polop up various projects including some in the General Urban Plan (PGOU), still by-pass the local government to drive off the tourist and industrial city and the consequent stimulation of its economy.

The city administration has moved away, for now, the first proposal that was launched in their planning, which included an excessive growth in the number of houses (there are around 700 and raised the building nearly 800 new) and did not guarantee a good andalusia future town. "We have reviewed the document with the head and an increase in attention to urban slowly over time and therefore sustainable, which is accompanied by the promotion of projects that create wealth and jobs," said the mayor of Polop-La Mamola, the independent Pedro Garcia. The regent, who with his confinement and his hunger strike last August succeeded in reopening the debate on local financing and advance the search for a solution, explained that the revision of the General Urban Plan came after more than three years of work in the first planning.

"The opposition parties have been satisfied with the future plant. I now hope to adopt it when they initially bring to full, because something very important for our municipality must have the consensus of all. " Thus, the document envisages a growth of 40%, which translates to 300 dwellings, of which 200 will be built in La Mamola, the largest of the six clusters that comprise the municipality. Other buildings were divided into Polop y Castillo de Baños, mainly.

Of these new residences, nearly one hundred units will be to ensure that young people, "a dynamic group with good initiatives, elects to reside in the town," concluded the Mayor. The new PGOU proposes, on the other hand, improving infrastructure, especially the communications linking the different cores Polop-La Mamola. Near the coast. In the sketch also shows the construction of an industrial estate, which alzaría a few meters from the coastline to grow inwards.

This equipment will be between one million and a half million square meters, not only dedicated to the creation or transformation of products (mainly vegetables), but also be open to the installation of logistics companies and wholesale trade. Tourism development will be present also in the future of the municipality. In this case, will be implemented through agreements between the City and urban developers, in which the Andalusian also be a party to enforce existing legislation and the public interest.

"At Castle Baths will build a marine-marina, but inwards, a project that will be supplemented by some housing and commercial space with a major hotel and a four-or five-star projects to give an incredible dynamism this Annex, which in recent years has experienced significant growth, "said the mayor. In general continued, is actions that will create over two hundred direct jobs once they become operational (which should be added in their construction).

The local government plans to develop, in parallel, a major tourist proposal in Polop kernel to be built in another lodging rural, in this case, three or four star hotel structure, so that each stay is snap into the ground, creating great visual impact. The installation is complemented by a center for activities related to the environment. But PGOU (regent pending the final approval this year) is not the only advantage to playing the City Hall.

The work of reorganizing and improving coastal defenses from the beach of La Mamola, who have begun in recent days, along with construction of a new promenade changed the aesthetics of the town. The project has more than four million euro budget, financed by the Ministry of Environment. Improvement of beaches. It will also carry out a major investment to join the promenade with the marina inside Castillo de Baños and at the same time, make additional sand and building breakwaters to ensure the existence and stability of the beach attached.

"With what little we are, if everything goes well we, we set ourselves up as one of the fastest growing municipalities in quality and quantity over the next few years, so we become a very important point in the province," said Garcia . Once the initiatives related to improving the beaches, the mayor raises choose to 'Q for Quality' and 'blue flags' to become a benchmark of quality tourism, attracting more visitors and create more wealth and employment.
